"Melissa has created keepsakes for our family I'll treasure forever. She is also a baby whisperer, able to soothe my colicky newborn and captured our young family so beautifully when I was not exactly feeling photo friendly postpartum. I highly recommend her for your family!"
"Melissa is truly amazing. We hired her to take announcement, maternity and newborn photos. She is so friendly and personable. I was stressing out big time about the newborn photos (getting ourselves and our house ready, not knowing how our baby would act, etc.) but Melissa made it such a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I also feel like she’s a baby whisperer! We will definitely be reaching out to Melissa to photograph our family for years to come. We highly recommend her!
"Melissa has captured my family for 3 years now, and each year I just absolutely LOVE our photos. This year was a little challenging with my 18 month old teething and super cranky, I thought for sure it's going to just be one of those "we tried" moments where our kids just won't cooperate and that's okay! but when I got our photos, I was just so blown away by how many beautiful shots Melissa captured. She is amazing and made us feel comfortable and calm amidst the chaos of our kids. She's so professional, I HIGHLY recommend her!!
The majority of my newborn clients choose to hold their sessions 2-4 weeks after the birth of their baby. That being said, when we hold it is entirely up to you. Whether it's two weeks or six weeks (or longer) is entirely your call. If you want that squishy, snuggly, sleepy true newborn session - then 2-3 weeks post birth is the sweet spot. If you want more awake, engaged, social smiling type of session, 4-6 weeks is a great choice.
I recommend having your maternity session between 28 and 32 weeks with 30/31 weeks being the sweet spot. Typically by 30 weeks you're showing, but not completely uncomfortable and still holding onto the end of that second trimester energy.
That’s going to be a hard no. Editing is half of the journey of my work with you as a photographer. It’s an integral part of my creative process and it’s also one of the reasons that you were drawn into and love my work. Simply put, an unedited image is not complete and I don’t give out unfinished work.
As part of the booking process, you will fill out a questionnaire and provide information on what type of backdrop you're looking for. Using that information, after you've booked, I will reach out with a few options for locations that are within 30 minutes of your home. These are locations that I have scouted, researched and most often held sessions at before - so I know that they are safe for your family, provide the variety I am looking for and are open for sessions to be held there. I include an hour of travel each way from my home in Sturbridge in my session fee.
If you request a location outside of that range (such as the beach), it is subject to my availability and there will be a travel fee assessed.
It's also important to note that almost ALL state parks, and most Trustee properties in MA require a permit (that has to be applied for at least two weeks in advance) and require a permit fee that has to be paid by the client. Due to this reason, I do not frequently utilize State Parks for session locations.
New England, historically, is home to fairly unpredictable and quickly changing weather. Good times ;) At this point, I moonlight as a meteorologist when monitoring the weather for outdoor sessions. Given just how quickly things can change, especially during the busiest times of year, I wait to make the call until noon on the day of the session (unless it's very clear the day before that it will not be possible to hold the session.) Generally speaking, if there is less than a 50% chance of rain, we will hold the session. If there is severe weather (thunderstorms, extreme winds, etc..) we will re-schedule as those are weather events that are unsafe.
Situations that I do not re-schedule for: cloudy or overcast days, trees or flowers not being in bloom yet, leaves not having changed color yet in the fall. :)
